June 5, 2013

United Way Worldwide recently presented Jim Vojcsik with the 30-Year Service Award.

Vojcsik was given the award during the United Way Worldwide National Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana for his 30 years of executive management and fundraising experience at local United Ways in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Vojcsik has also been an active member of the Tobacco Free Partnership of Martin County, where he has served on the Advisory Council since 2009.

“I was 29 years old when I started working for United Way and did not anticipate it becoming a career,” said Vojcsik, executive director of United Way of Martin County. “It has been personally rewarding to work with the dedicated staff professionals and volunteers in the communities where I have lived to advance the United Way mission while having such a positive impact on the lives of so many people.”

Nationally, United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, financial stability and healthy lives. Locally, United Way strives to make Martin County a place where no one goes to bed hungry; families are self-sustainable; everyone is healthier; everyone has the opportunity to succeed; everyone can reach their full potential; and everyone is safe.

By focusing on six specific priorities – hunger, strengthening families, health, education, jobs and safety – United Way of Martin County is able to fund local programs that cover everything from: food distribution to neighborhood revitalization to transportation for disabled residents to literacy programs in underserved neighborhoods to job services for students with disabilities to aid for domestic violence victims.
